SIWA Cushioned Case
The Japanese paper maker ONAO and industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa have teamed together to create the SIWA series. The collection is made from Naoron, a paper developed by ONAO that doesn’t tear easily, is water-resistant and can carry heavy loads. The name SIWA is both a reversing of the characters in the word washi (wasi), and a word meaning, “crinkle” in Japanese. As with leather goods, these washi products are lovingly individually crafted. Onao is a family run company, with more than 150 years of papermaking history. Based in Yamanishi, a rural area near Mt. Fuji, Onao still operates Japan’s oldest paper machine where the paper is cut off the wheel by hand.
The SIWA Cushioned Case is a minimal carrying case that is perfect for a laptop. The case has a zipper closer and is padded for extra protection. Made of Naoron, a paper that is soft, flexible, durable and with time will develop a beautiful patina.
